FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The warranty varies depending on the specific model and the South African supplier. Many Felicity lithium batteries sold locally show 5–10 year warranties, while some higher-end units offer longer coverage.

Generally, yes, for 48V systems, but compatibility can be either “basic” (voltage/current only) or “full” (including BMS communications). Felicity batteries often include CANbus/RS485, yet some setups need the correct cable/protocol or installer settings to communicate properly. Check the inverter’s supported BMS list and confirm with your installer.

Most Felicity LiFePO₄ batteries are rated for over 6,000 cycles at ~80% depth of discharge, which typically translates to 8–12 years of normal home backup use. The actual lifespan depends on heat, charge settings, and how deeply/frequently you discharge during load shedding. Proper sizing and installation make a big difference.

Many Felicity lithium models shipped to SA support CANbus and RS485. Correct setup usually means using the right comms port, correct pinout cable, enabling the matching battery protocol on the inverter, and adding terminators if required. If comms fail, the battery will still work in voltage mode, but without smart SOC data.

Start with your essential loads (in kWh) and the duration you require backup. Rough guide: 2.5–5kWh for apartments/small homes, 5–10kWh for medium homes, and 10–15kWh+ for large homes or small businesses. Match inverter power to your peak watts (kettle/microwave/fridges). A quick load audit gives the best fit.
